NEW YORK and BURBANK (October 22, 2019) – Verizon and the direct-to-consumer and international segment of Walt Disney Company have announced a far-reaching agreement that will offer all Verizon customers, unlimited wireless customers, the new Internet Customers of Home House 5G Home 12 months from Disney. Disney will debut on November 12 and will be the streaming house for movies and shows from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic and more. The agreement will allow Verizon Wireless customers to broadcast Disney on the largest and most reliable network1 and will provide another reason for customers to choose Verizon for the best content options available. Verizon and The Walt Disney Co. said they have renewed their agreement, which provided Verizon subscribers with Disney Plus, and have created new plans that include a set of Disney streaming services. “The inclusion of The Disney Bundle in our agreement with Verizon reinforces our commitment to providing subscribers with access to high-quality entertainment from Disney, Hulu and ESPN,” said Sean Breen, PPE, Platform Distribution, The Walt Disney Company. “We are always looking for the most cost-effective ways for consumers to discover our content, and we are pleased to work with Verizon to deliver these attractive new offerings to their customers.” Eligible unlimited plans start at $70 per month (plus taxes and fees) for a single line or $35 per line for a family of four. Customers who receive Verizons Play More and Get More Unlimited Broadband will receive Disney Plus, Hulu and ESPN Plus from August 20 included. These plans are part of Verizon`s Mix-Match strategy, which allows customers to choose their broadband and television preferences. For the launch, Verizon customers can activate their Disney subscription and start broadcasting on a wide range of mobile and connected TVs, including game consoles, streaming media players and smart TVs. For Verizon, the Disney advantage could encourage some subscribers to switch to unlimited data plans. The largest U.S. mobile phone network has about 100 million postpaid retail connections, about half of which has Verizon Unlimited. Its home Internet business is much smaller, with only 6 million homes, but the prospect of free streaming access to the huge library of Disney, Marvel, Star Wars and Pixar could be enough to get customers of competing internet service providers to change. Verizon will offer disney for one year free to all of its unlimited wireless customers, as well as new subscribers to its Fios Home and 5G Home Internet service.
